The Collected Stories of “Barry’s Parakeet”

Barry’s Parakeet is a story project started by Founding Editor Michelle Kicherer as part of her on-demand class How to Start a Story.

All participants are encouraged to follow the intentional, guided story prompts in the class, building on a story called “Barry’s Parakeet.” All students who sign up now through August 10, 2025, will be invited to send their own Barry’s Parakeet story to Banana Pitch Press, where it will be featured on this page alongside other Barrys Parakeets.
